Unusual interiors.
this Mini interior is so good. I’ve never found one with this interior and a manual trans. If I did find one, in Clubman form, like this one. I would basically be forced to buy it. (not really I like MY BMW more than this one)

This seems weird enough for this post. Alfa Romeo SZ Zagato I drove this weekend.

I find this quite unusual myself, and not in the positive sense.

And entirely devoid of character

I like this

The Mini’s interior is just too quirky for me - I couldn’t live with it on a daily basis.

Just dont turn off the DSC when you want to roll down the window.

I should also mention the TT baseball stitched seats

I would love a button that did both!

Its easy after about a week of living with it.

It’s not that I wouldn’t learn how to use it after a bit - it’s just over-styled from my point of view and would get on my nerves (I’ve driven a friend’s a few times - they are fun! ). Just personal preference.

That is cool. Now if only they were fun to drive.

they aren’t? that is sad. I seriously considered buying a Clubman last January but I couldn’t find a manual Cooper S to test drive.

I’ve driven a few minis of the previous two generations and found them a bit boring. The engine response was lackluster and I felt very disconnected from the front wheels. Felt like a tiny minivan but with stiff jerky suspension. I haven’t driven any manual or hot ones though so that may be a different story.

Yeah, they made it different for the sake of it. Its just as easy/difficult to use as a normal interior.

Funky as hell

If only they made a sportier one. Like an “S” model or a JCW or something ;)

If I got in it would have to be a Coopser S. Just like I wouldn’t drive an Impreza that isn’t a WRX. I’d hate getting in my car an knowing missing out.
says the guy who doesn’t have a 335i or M3. ...

I'm of the belief that if a car is truly good, the base models will be fun to drive. Just adding power to a car that's not good doesn't fix it unless you're also tweaking fundamental things like suspension type and steering rack specs. At that point, why not just make a new model?

If only it wasn’t everything a modern M ini is and was actually a cool European micro-compact we could get over here.
Oh just look at the design ‘ features’ built in that can never attain balance or be neglected for long . I bet if I look upon them as hacks and tweaks they will enrich my driving and personal time which is increasingly going to be spent dealing with this bloated turd. Hooray!

My mom had an 06 manual Cooper and a 2013 Cooper S manual and they were both a blast. I think the Cooper S is a better hot hatch than a GTI and I much prefer it to the feel of my friends 2015 Civic Si. The chassis is very well put together and can be very quick, and the turbo engine is quick enough to be tons of fun for the street. If you drove an auto that might be a big difference though

The C43 has a Saddle Brow with white stitching designo design thats similarly amazing.

Funny you mention this car, I love an early C itroen DS quirky dash and wheel etc... but I absolutely hate bits of the new Minis interior . The upper dash isn’t too bad, but the lower consol and the doors feel like really bad 90's concept car, oh and the seat, I hate those too :P I think the Clubman looks good on the outside though. I like the idea of a center speedo. Too many roundy things, the lower console is trying to be all cool like a Spyker or Pagani, but it looks like plastic crap to me.

I was actually thinking this weekend that my 335 might be too fast to enjoy on the street. It’s hard to feel like you’re getting on it without going to jail. Your 328 may well be the same. An E46 323i would be perfect. All the I-6 noises and drama but without the speed.

My 328i is I think right on the line. That’s one of the reasons I didn’t try to get a 335, ive always had “slow” cars. Even my galant VR-4 was stock and making maybe 200hp. It was Probably slower than most WRXs. That and the maintenance of two turbochargers scared me a bit.

I used love C lubmans, owned a 09 for about 2 years, after which it started giving me all sorts of trouble.
